  • FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is checked during my child’s screening?
This is different depending on age group. But generally we are just checking a child’s readiness to join peers of their same age in the classroom and enjoy being at school.
Is a child required to have English ability required to enroll?
English ability is not a requirement until the Olive class (4 years old), from this age we check if the child can communicate and follow discussions at the screening.
Does the — Class have a waiting list?
Generally after the start of the school year classes are on a waiting list. Any available spaces will be prioritized to international families or families moving into Japan. Please follow the April New Year Admissions process to guarantee a space for your child.
We prefer to enroll after April, will you save a space for my child?
Basically no, though we do generally arrange some space in the school for mid-year entry, this space will always go to international families waiting to join the school.
Do you support enrollment for students with special learning needs?
We believe in inclusive education and assess this question on a case by case basis. With this we generally do not provide in-school support for most special learning needs. We are willing to work together with families to have additional learning support in the classroom.
What school’s do RST graduates attend?
Our graduates are generally evenly distributed between international schools, private Japanese schools, and public Japanese schools. We provide free counseling services to help each family/child on their individual path and have an extremely high success rate with students attending their schools of choice.
